When we think of the homeless, numerous stereotypes rise in our thoughts. Analysts measure the cost of homelessness to local taxpayers, businesses want them off the streets to reduce their aesthetic challenges, neighborhoods reject homeless shelters near their homes, and we cringe when they seek shelter under a highway overpass. While statistics are being gathered and local ordinances are debated-the homeless are left to survive by simply asking us for ‘change’.
