The emerald of Austin, nothing sums up my hometown like hot concrete and cold water on a summer’s day at Barton Springs. Life guards blowing the whistle at rambunctious kids, people doing back-flips off the diving board or yoga up on the hill- the Springs are as close as you can get to the heart of Austin. This was probably the most challenging painting I’ve ever attempted: the people, the sky, the water- everything has its own subtle character that I wanted to imbue with life.
