My Inner Demons

Prismacolor and gouache on paper, 2018

Growing up with anxiety, it is often difficult for me to convey certain emotions to others. My work explores specific emotions like anger, sadness, and fear as well as humor. The interactions of the human figure with the motifs in my work display the anxiety and emotions I feel when I begin to open up to others. The use of high contrast color adds to the sense of panic and anxiety as well. The small element of humor ties to the fact that sometimes we use comedy to cover up real emotions that we have trouble putting to words.
