Artwork #121

Michelle Gardella

Photography, 2018

I am curious about what remains when nothing remains. In the absence of classifying possessions or objects, who are we? This image was created at Pedernales State Park and is a reflection of my own search for identity in Texas. Part of a series of over 100 portraits of women in these waters, this image speaks to the primal need to be seen and the innate desire to belong.
