Archival pigment print, 2018

Within my series "Marginalized Identities", I explore the juxtapositions of beauty, fragility, and violence as they relate to subcultures within the Louisiana LGBTQ+ community. By positioning still life photographs suggestive of fleeting violence next to images of transgender and gender- queer people who are often the recipients of such violence, I aim to contrast between the seen and unseen elements in the lives of these alienated persons as they dare to be themselves in the American South.
